2020 Land Rover Defender Spokane

How Has The Land Rover Defender Evolved?

By Nick Morse and Edited by Ozzy Snyder

The Land Rover Defender has been discontinued in January of 2016, but the last one sold in the United States was sold in 1997. Now the Land Rover Defender is making a comeback in the United States and I am sure that many people have been waiting many years for Land Rover to come out with a vehicle like this one.

The 2020 Land Rover Defender has some of the coolest features and technology, so we have included some of our favorites:

  • There is a raised air intake just in case you are taking a trip from Spokane to the sandy beaches of California.
  • The roof rack featured on the Defender is lightweight and capable of carrying loads of 291 lbs. if safely mounted and secured.
  • There is a deployable roof latter so you can retrieve your belongings easier.
  • In the Adventure Package and Country Package there is a Portable Rinse System – so you can take a shower on the go! Or more commonly rinse your swimming gear, hiking boots, wetsuits, etc.
  • The Defender has been tested from 122°F to -40°F so even under the most extreme conditions you can overcome. Here we come South Dakota!

  • The Land Rover Defender is equipped with a 2.0L 296HP Turbocharged Inline-4 Engine which is incredibly unique. The Land Rover Defender has decent gas mileage with 17 City / 20 Highway. The engine makes it engaging for long rides on the freeway to your off-road destinations. The off-roading capabilities of the new Defender are truly advanced.

2020 Land Rover Defender Off-Roading Capabilities

The Configurable Terrain Response is an incredible off-road settings control with pre-set configurations so you can prepare for anything. With this technology and the click of a button, you can control the differentials to three settings: Auto, Centre Locked and Centre & Rear Locked. You can also control the powertrain, letting you have full control under any circumstance.

If you are inexperienced with off-roading but love the idea of getting adapted to the new technology Land Rover also has preset terrain settings with the TERRAIN RESPONSE® 2.

The Land Rover Defender Uni-Body Frame

The Land Rover Defender body style is special because it comes in a basic aluminum unibody – meaning the autobody is one piece. The design is far superior to the classic “body-on-frame” style that has been out of style on new crossover SUVs. It helps the Land Rover Defender score better on safety tests including rollover safety and can even help with fuel consumption.

    2020 Land Rover Interior Features

The interior is available with Power Sockets including USB points or 12V power sockets in every row. The interior also ranges with options from 2 to 7 seven seats and many different arrangements for your cargo. An interesting idea Land Rover has introduced is the Seat Backpack which is easily removable and can hold your basic hiking needs.

The interior also features a head-up display which includes the awesome feature of displaying your music choice and gas mileage right down the center. The speedometer is neatly tucked on the left and the RPM on the right. This is a well-designed display built with simplicity.

A word from Land Rover USA

Land Rover has put over 70 years of innovation, design, and hard work into creating the Defender. In fact, Land Rover has commented on the Defender stating, “The new model will represent 70 years of innovation and improvement; honoring the vehicle’s history for rugged solidity while thoroughly remaining a Defender for the 21st century.”
